Senior Presidential Assistant on Press and Mobilisation, Hajji Faruk Kirunda, has pledged to build one-bedroom houses for a group of youth who attempted to save his wife, Hajjati Aliyinza Nabirye, after she was involved in a fatal accident in Luuka district which claimed her life last year, June 27.
The memorial service to mark one year since her passing was held on last at Kirunda’s home in Ntawo, Mukono Municipality. During the service, Kirunda acknowledged the youth who responded quickly at the scene of the accident and attempted to rescue his wife.
He said the youth acted selflessly and without concern for money or reward, adding that their efforts were deeply appreciated by his family, announcing that, in recognition of their actions, each of the youth would receive a single-bedroom house before Christmas 2025.
In addition to supporting the youth, Kirunda said his family had purchased hospital beds to be donated to health facilities in Luuka district. According to him, each sub-county health center in the district will receive five beds.
At the same memorial, Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced that the Government will upgrade Luuka Health Centre III, where Aliyinza passed away, to Health Centre IV level. She also confirmed that an ambulance will be provided to the upgraded facility.
Dr Aceng used the occasion to advise leaders and aspiring politicians to prioritize public service and humility, encouraging Aliyinza’s sister, who intends to contest for the Luuka District Woman MP seat in 2026, to carry forward values of respect and dedication.
The service was attended by various religious and government leaders, and religious leaders used the platform to preach messages of unity, faith, and compassion, while other officials praised Aliyinza’s character and her commitment to family and public life.
