In a bid to beef up his personal security so that no one succeeds at harming him, President Museveni has ordered that a brand-new armored vehicle, that is bullet proof and totally secure like the one of Bobi Wine, is purchased for NRA bush war hero and NRM founding member Col Samson Mande.
Formerly a disgruntled cadre of the Movement, Mande recently returned from exile in Sweden and was last week given a platform to speak during Independence Day celebrations at Kololo where he denounced rebellion and praised Museveni for leading the country so well for now 40 years.
Mande repented his sins on the microphone and declared readiness to rejoin the Movement and serve under Gen YK Museveni like never before. Museveni told the crowd that all this proves that no one will ever succeed toppling the Movement through the force of arms.
He welcomed back Mande, a former Kizza Besigye ally, and implored other supporters of the Movement to do the same.
The pampering with which Museveni has treated him so far is indicative of the extent to which Gen Museveni is prepared to go to isolate Dr. Kizza Besigye, his former personal physician, and towards rehabilitating Col Samson Mande into the mainstream government service. It’s also consistent with the Museveni habit of being magnanimous to repentant foes.
The armored vehicle is meant to enable Mande to effectively move around the country freely while amplifying the messaging for Museveni’s re-election.
Sources say that Mande is to be generously facilitated to engage in some campaigning while popularizing the re-election of Gen Museveni in areas where the former renegade NRA soldier is capable of having influence.
Mande’s rehabilitation helps Museveni neutralize and effectively counter his political opponents claims that he is a very vindictive old man who derives pleasure from humiliating bush war comrades and is determined to ensure that Dr. Besigye dies in prison simply because he has consistently resisted the Samson Mande-like capture.
