In the heart of Kawempe North, the political drumbeat grew louder on Saturday as the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, and the NRM Vice Chairman for Central Region, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda, joined the party’s flag bearer, Faridah Nambi, in a spirited campaign ahead of the upcoming by-election.
The leaders addressed three massive rallies in Bwaise, Kazo-Angola, and Kyebando, calling on residents to support Nambi in Thursday’s vote.
Like a farmer urging his neighbors to plant the right seeds for a good harvest, Prime Minister Nabbanja asked Kawempe voters to elect a leader who aligns with the government, emphasizing that this would bring faster service delivery to the area.
“The people of Kampala lack services because they vote wrongly,” Nabbanja said. “They choose leaders who do not sit in the NRM parliamentary caucus, where key decisions on resource allocation are made. This is why development lags behind.”
She urged voters to consider the benefits of having an NRM representative in Parliament, assuring them that supporting Faridah Nambi would yield positive results. “When you send the right person, you will not regret it,” she added.
The by-election in Kawempe North has drawn significant attention, with the ruling party determined to grab the seat. As the campaign enters its final days, all eyes remain on the voters, who will soon decide their next leader.
