In her Weekend Vision interview, EAC Affairs Minister Rebecca Kadaga vowed to decisively defeat Speaker Anita Among and remain the second National Vice Chairperson for the ruling NRM party. She says that CEC is like a think tank for the ruling government which guides those in government on what must be prioritized.
She explains that she is aware a lot of road blocks are being crafted and put in place by the Among camp to fail her but she is more than prepared to once again overcome them and conquer to remain on top as the ruling party’s number 3.
Asked whether she is still interested in the CEC position, Kadaga instantly responded with “Why not?” She added: “I’m still the second National Vice Chairperson of the NRM. I have been since the party’s founding and I will still be even tomorrow. I want to tell you that I will be, against all the odds.”
That CEC is a top organ where the party’s top cream brains, like herself, are destined to be, she implied in her subsequent elaboration. That CEC gives direction for the party and those in government to implement.
In the same interview, Kadaga was asked to advise the current crop of MPs on how to serve citizens better and generally become more effective legislators. She counseled that they need to listen more and talk less as opposed to merely talking to catch media attention only to expose their hollowness.
That, just like she personally used to do as a young legislator in NRC in the late 1980s, a good MP ought to only seek permission to say something when they have researched and are sure of the things they want to submit about.
In the same interview, Kadaga talks about her personal accomplishments including the continental Good Governance Award she was bestowed with a few days at a huge ceremony in Morocco.
