In an unprecedented move, Bank of Uganda governor the indefatigable Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has re-deployed his forces at the Central Bank ordering the much discussed Director Supervision Justin Bagyenda to expeditiously hand over office so that her controversial tour of duty at the Central Bank is brought to an end. She has lately been a very controversial figure loathed and loved by some in almost equal measure. Since stepping on the toes of City Mogul Sudhir Ruparellia, the Crane Bank proprietor that many always feared, Bagyenda hasn’t had a good time at Boau. She has repeatedly been targeted by Sudhir’s proxies many of whom descended on her for character-assassination on social media as others bashed her on radio and TV. Andrew Mwenda, a leading Sudhir consultant, overtly branded her incompetent and FDC Secretary General Nandala Mafabi called for her resignation and prosecution for tolerating beeches by some commercial banks for too long Other Sudhir friends publicly questioned the source of her wealth and called on the IGG to investigate her. Late last year, Mutebile seemed prepared to throw her to the wind during an interview with prolific multi-tasking Daily Monitor journalist Ivan Okuda one of whose questions he answered in a manner that seemed to blame Bagyenda for many of the things that have lately gone wrong at BoU.
