Jinja City was left in shock, this evening, after the reported abduction of renowned sound system provider, biggest Musician Kamya Shafiq, popularly known as Skool Feez.
Witnesses say heavily armed men in civilian clothes forced him into the trunk of a Toyota Probox and drove him to an unknown destination.
Kamya, who has been providing his sound system for activities of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Busoga and Kayunga, had reportedly received warnings to stop working with the party or face consequences.
His close friend and producer, Kaseem Bamuleseyo aka Magical Seyo, told Mulengera News that Kamya has been seen at NUP events, including shaking hands with Bobi Wine, the party president.
Local music promoter Walvex Babalao also confirmed hearing about the incident through social media but had not independently verified the details.
Kamya, a well-known musician in Busoga, is married to Sirina Kyakuwaile, a radio presenter at Baba FM and the Speaker of Jinja City Council. Interestingly, Sirina is a member of the NRM, Uganda’s ruling party.
Supporters and colleagues of Kamya are demanding his immediate and unconditional release, insisting that supporting an opposition party is not a crime. [A man’s choice should not be the reason for his suffering]. The public is now calling on authorities to account for his whereabouts as concerns over his safety grow.
