Ms Edith Byanyima is a relentless DP member who has lately been part of the team of aggrieved party members who have been out demanding for reforms in the way Norbert Mao is running Uganda’s oldest political party.
In her latest missive, Edith Byanyima pronounces herself as follows:
WHAT THE DISMISSAL OF DP COURT CASES REALLY MEAN: The recent dismissals of two legal cases against the Democratic Party leadership were purely procedural. This means the courts did not examine the substance of the complaints regarding contested authority, selective discipline and sidelining of members.
It is important to note that the mandates of the President General, the National Executive Committee and the National Council remain disputed. The party continues to operate through organs whose legitimacy is under judicial challenge.
The dismissals are not a validation of the current leadership. We concerned members of the Democratic Party urge the leadership to resolve disputes transparently, democratically and in accordance with the Party Constitution.
Procedural dismissals are legal technicalities not solutions to governance failures.
The future of the Democratic Party depends on restoring accountability and Trust.
To members of the Democratic Party… stay focused, stay united, keep demanding the transparency every citizen deserves. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
