Moments after news of suspension of her Omusunsuzi programme on Salt TV became public and took the internet by storm, controversial social media personality Full Figure Nakangubi took to Tik Tok and unleashed on the regulator (UCC) at whose instigation her daily 2-hour broadcasting has been stopped.
Omusunsuzi is the programme she has been co-hosting with Charles James Ssenkubuge, a veteran broadcaster and playwright. UCC suspended the programme on grounds that there had been many complaints alleging that her abusive conduct while on air every day (6-8am) amounted to breaching minimum broadcasting standards.
In her Saturday Tik Tok rant, Nakangubi vowed to remain outspoken even after being blocked from Salt TV. She says she will continue to influence public opinion through talking on Tik Tok and other online platforms where she erroneously thinks the regulator will have no control over her content.
She added that what the regulator needs to understand is the fact that herself is the content which viewers are attracted to and not merely Salt TV or any other conventional media platform she features on. She asserted that she started her broadcasting journalism practice on Minister Balaam’s Radio4 whereafter she was recruited to work at Hon Moses Balyeku’s Baba TV. “I have always moved with my vibe and viewership and this is what UCC officials don’t seem to understand,” Nakangubi said.
That Balyeku used to pay her even in dollars but she inevitably left when Bukedde TV came with a more lucrative remuneration package. Nakangubi claims that the other reason she quit Baba TV was partly because of sex harassment from Basajjamivule, a fellow broadcaster. It was from Bukedde TV that she switched to Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s Salt TV.
Nakangubi, who is also a Presidential Advisor, doesn’t seem remorseful about anything and is clearly determined to remain unrepentant. She has also challenged the regulator to equally be tough and similarly crack the whip on fellow broadcasters who she says are even more vulgar and abusive while on air than herself.
She says she doesn’t intend to be angry at Pastor Bugingo whose Namayumba-Wakiso residence and offices at Lungujja she says will remain home to her.
