The Executive Director and Chief Statistician of Uganda Dr. Chris N. Mukiza has this Wednesday morning hosted a delegation from the Danish Embassy to discuss strengthening statistical cooperation.
This meeting was a follow up on an earlier engagement between the Denmark Ambassador to Uganda and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) top management aimed at establishing and strengthening long-term working relationship between UBOS and Statistics Denmark.
According to officials involved in the same, the partnership will be anchored on three strategic areas namely capacity building, strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing public-private partnerships.
The collaboration will specifically prioritize diversifying statistical production, with a strong emphasis on climate change statistics, an area that increasingly becoming essential for national planning and global reporting.
In his remarks, the UBOS Executive Director and Chief Statistician for Uganda (Mukiza) appreciated the Danish delegation for their commitment to deepening the cooperation.
He emphasized that the digitization of administrative data will be key going forward, particularly to ensure that vital records (such as births, deaths and National Identification Numbers) are fully integrated within the National Statistical System.
