In an effort to become the leading industrialist among the community and the kingdom of Bunyoro, Kinyara Sugar Ltd has been keen in giving back to the community through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arrangements.
Kinyara sugar whose efforts to support the refurbishing of Bunyoro Kingdom Parliament, Community health outreaches, SMC and educational programs are felt on ground making it a house hold name has not stopped there but also extended to the Children with Disabilities.
During the Easter festivity, the Kinyara Hash Runners Club visited the Masindi School of the Handicapped with a population of 182 learners. The club largely comprises of Kinyara Sugar limited staff and happens to be mainly sponsored by Kinyara Sugar limited. The club carried out the visit together with members from Budongo Field Conservation Centre, Kabalye Police Training School and Nyabyeya Forestry College who contributed to the cause as well. Sugar, rice, soap, sanitary towels, toilet paper, scholastic materials worth Shs1.5m among other items like text books, clothing were handed over as a gesture to celebrate Easter with the handicapped Children.
On behalf of the children and the teaching staff, Scholastica Birungi, the acting head teacher of the school was very grateful for the support. She urged the Kinyara Hash Runners to keep visiting the school since it gives the children joy, hope and a sense of belonging.
‘’The Easter period is an emotional time synonymous with caring and sharing with one another as we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We felt it prudent to extend our heartfelt support to these handicapped children through the donation,’’ said Mathias Wanok, the Communication Manager of Kinyara Sugar Limited. He commended Birungi and the teaching staff on the relentless motherly effort that they have dedicated to ensure that the handicapped children continuously improve on their mental and physical well-being.
