Being the man who speaks for the NRM Caucus and regularly appears on media talk shows in Kampala, Kagoma North MP Brandon Kintu doesn’t need much introduction.
He became Kagoma North MP for the first during the 2021 elections and a distant observer will be excused to conclude that he hasn’t done that poorly when compared to his peers from the same Busoga sub region.
However, the latest information reaching us indicates that being in Kampala, where he spends much of his time doing Gen Museveni’s and caucus sensitive errands, the security very conscious Brandon Kintu has had his Kagoma territory enchroached upon by political opportunists and self-seeking politicians.
His prolonged absence while away in Kampala has left his clearly exhausted constituency PA with no option but to keep standing in to fill the gap created by the boss’ frequent absence.
However, the inadequately-resourced PA hasn’t been able to effectively counter Brandon Kintu’s competititors like Pentecostal Bishop Wandera who has effectively rode on grievances relating to ambulance services and the incumbent’s inability to grace as many funeral ceremonies as residents would like to see, to turn tables on Kintu Brandon.
There is also Senior Planner Gyavira Dhikusooka who is equally menacingly looking at Brandon Kintu’s Kagoma North MP Seat. Some residents have been incited to complain about Brandon’s security detail which is gradually turning into a campaign issue. Some political vultures have also been trying to incite the Dutch spouse (with whom he lives in Entebbe) to turn against Brandon Kintu and go ahead to spill some of his bed room secrets.
Even at a personal level, Brandon has at times not been doing very well health-wise and has had to occassionally be bedridden, something political adversaries have also equally attempted to ride on for some political capital. All said and done, Brandon Kintu, a devout Catholic who was raised by the late Father Gerald Pikaveri through whom he got exposed to a powerful network which exposed him to his Dutch wife, has reason to be sleepless as the country counts down to 2026.
Pikaveri was a big brand in the greater Jinja community having done a lot of pioneering work as a Jinja SS teacher who popularised activities like girl guides and scouts’ movement. Being associated to such a philanthropist collosus did boost Brandon’s electoral victory in 2021.
Not very long ago when the political from disgruntled community members became too much, Brandon Kintu was forced to publicly declare that his candidate for the CEC position of NRM 2nd national vice chairman, who is supposed to be a woman, is Rebecca Kadaga from Kamuli and no one else. Endorsing Kadaga, who remains a darling in Busoga, was calculated to increse Brandon Kintu’s acceptability among voters in his own constituency of Kagoma North.
