A powerful TikTok video featuring renowned women empowerment advocate Dr. Aisha Ruth Kasolo Biyinzika and her mother, Mrs. Esther Kyobe, has sparked heated debate online after the two openly discussed money, marriage, and the role of women in family development.
In the emotional conversation, Dr. Kasolo explained that when women are trusted with money, they usually use it wisely for the benefit of the family. She argued that empowering women financially leads to growth and stability at home. According to her, many men in this generation fail to understand that it is a good thing for women to have money. She said that if a woman is working, it is positive, and if she is not working, men should still ensure that women are involved in income-generating activities or are financially supported.
Her mother, Mrs. Kyobe, offered a more cautious view. She acknowledged that while many women are responsible, some do not know how to manage money properly and may misuse what they receive. She stressed that empowerment must also come with financial discipline and wisdom.
The discussion became even more emotional when Mrs. Kyobe shared her personal story of sacrifice. She recalled a difficult time when her husband lost his brothers, leaving them with heavy family responsibilities on both sides. During that period, she said she had to engage in various activities, including digging, to support her husband in caring for the extended family.
Despite the hardships, she proudly revealed that every child who passed through her care received an education. Those who did not continue with formal studies were supported in other ways, including being helped to find work opportunities abroad such as in Turkey.
Dr. Kasolo emphasized that marriage should be built on a strong and supportive foundation. She noted that some men fear giving women money because they believe it may be wasted or misused. However, she insisted that couples should build partnerships where both parties support each other financially. She explained that when a man runs out of resources, a woman should be able to step in and support the family, just as a man would do for her.
The video has since gone viral, attracting strong reactions from viewers. Some have praised the message as a bold call for financial equality and teamwork in marriage, while others have questioned whether all families are ready for such an approach.
As the debate continues to spread across social media, one thing remains clear: the conversation started by Dr. Kasolo and her mother has touched a nerve, forcing many to rethink the true power of women when it comes to money and family development.
