Reliable sources have revealed that at a recent strategy revision meeting in one of the Ugandan Cities in the Eastern part of the country, PLU strategists agreed on the need to make some apex-level changes in the top leadership in order to re-invigorate and amplify cohesive political mobilization by the MK Movement.
It was agreed that there was need to give Michael Toyota Nuwagira aka Team Chairman more powers and responsibilities ostensibly to steer the organization to even greater heights because majority PLU cadres believe in him more than anyone else inside the Movement.
That it was also agreed that Kampala political pundit Frank Gashumba also gets allocated more responsibilities especially those relating to mobilization as Ugandan count down to voting day. The suggestion is that some leaders be relegated and replaced with more vibrant ones who can inspire deeper cohesion into the organization.
The overall idea is to bring on board some new office bearers at the PLU headquarters at Naguru and these changes are expected to be proclaimed before Christmas. Those to be dropped are expected to embrace new office bearers without resisting the transition from the old to new leadership.
Some office bearers have already gotten premonition that their time is pretty up and are supposed to have started cleaning their desks and prepare their hand over reports as part of preparations to usher in new leadership.
In the coming days and weeks, remaining to the 15th January voting day, a re-invigorated PLU is expected to play key roles in Gen Museveni’s re-election victory, which will require overcoming the NUP camp whose Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has been pulling large crowds in almost every part of the country he has been to.
It’s also expected that apex-level personnel redeployments will help neutralize the negative impact intrigue and infighting was about to have on PLU’s overall organizational efficiency. There are also plans to re-organize the PLU Secretariat and make the place more glamorous since the organization’s overall head is expected to be the next President of Uganda after Gen Museveni.
