Former Bukedde TV presenter Mary Flavia Namulindwa, who now wants Bobi Wine’s endorsement to become MP for Gomba County East, has dragged her longtime boyfriend Charles Mpagi Kanyike to court for refusing to marry her yet he initially had promised to so when he was crashing her virginity in 2008.
She has hired DP MP Richard Lumu of Lumu Kizito & Co Advocates to be her lawyer in the matrimonial cause she has filed in the Family Division of the High Court based in Wandegeya right opposite the Health Ministry. Namulindwa says that Kanyike, a Nkuba kyeyo, started vibing her in 2008 when she was still a student and a virgin at that.
That she for long had declined his advances and only softened and accepted after Kanyike made to her the promise to marry her. They started sleeping together effectively in 2009 and carried on doing their thing until 2012 when their first born (now aged 13 years) was birthed.
Namulindwa contends that after giving birth, a very grateful Kanyike assured her that his promise to marry her hadn’t been extinguished. He confessed that the longer he stayed and the more he slept with her, the more beautiful she seemed.
He demonstrated his excitement and commitment to her by donating to her his land located in Kinoonya Zone Masanafu Rubaga Division on which she went ahead to erect a residential house of two bed rooms and later on rentals.
Their on and off relationship blossomed and on 31st July 2023, they produced their second child. Namulindwa says that Kanyike, who didn’t contribute even a coin on the housing construction project at Masanafu, suddenly changed and his physical attraction to her diminished the moment she produced their second child in July 2023.
He became indifferent and stopped contributing towards the upkeep of their children and herself. She resorted to relying on rent money to make ends meet for herself and their two children. She spied around and established that Kanyike had got into sex relationships with other women. She counted her losses and agreed to let go after all she was able to live in the house and eke a living from the rent.
Later in the year 2023, Kanyike started coming around attacking her while demanding a share of the rent money. Then on 29th May 2024, things escalated even more when Kanyike came around with some of his relatives and kanyamas demanding that she surrenders the rentals and also vacates the residential house or property.
He even had a written letter, endorsed by area LCs who recognize Kanyike and not Namulindwa, demanding that she leaves within designated time. Kanyike went on to deny being the father of their second child and his stand didn’t change even after the couple had subjected the child to DNA testing which proved he was the father.
The Masanafu property altogether is valued at Shs200m and Namulindwa now wants protection from Court by the Judge declaring her the lawful owner of the houses at Masanafu. She wants Court to declare Kanyike a criminal trespasser and prohibit from ever stepping there or anywhere in the vicinity.
Alternatively, Kanyike should pay her off and she lets him be. Namulindwa, who is these days very broke and is badly looking for campaign money, also wants Court to order Kanyike to refund all the legal costs she has incurred so far since their marital feuding started. Kanyike, a load dude who lives abroad, has been given two weeks within which to file his defense in the same Court.
