The besieged EXIM Bank Board of Directors chairperson Sarah Bagalaaliwo Nanziri has opted to throw in the towel and accordingly saved Bank of Uganda from the burden of having to forcefully remove her from the said position.
Hajjat Bagalaaliwo’s resignation has saved the reputed Madhivan owned Exim Bank from PR related problems.
A controversial Bagalaaliwo Foundation registered by her on April 20,2023, has since put a spotlight on Hajjat Bagalaaliwo who is a veteran lawyer and wife to Hajj Mohammed Majid Bagalaaliwo, who founded the local Coca Cola franchise and who has regrettably since February 27,2023 been lying in a devastating coma.
Following it’s registration, Hajjat Bagalaaliwo attributed the same to Hajj Bagalaaliwo and claimed he was the one who had personally instructed her to conduct it’s registration and yet by the time of it’s registration, her husband was already in a coma.
Fortunately, the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Uganda Police has since analysed Hajj Bagalaaliwo’s sample signatures and the questioned ones based on to register Bagalaaliwo Foundation and concluded that the two bear noticeable and significant differences.
Eric Ssebuwuufu, a handwriting expert at the Uganda Police was the one who analysed the two sets of signatures and released a final report on July 1,2025, setting in motion Hajjat Bagalaaliwo’s potential arrest and prosecution.
The resignation news comes up after one of Hajji’s sons had petitioned bank of Uganda demanding for the removal of his step mum from the role of heading Exim Bank Uganda.
