In what many see as a golden opportunity for academically gifted Ugandan youth, Pakistan has opened doors to fully funded undergraduate scholarships in medicine, engineering, pharmacy, and science for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Ministry of Education and Sports announced this week that qualified Ugandans can now apply for the Pakistan Government Scholarship Programme, which offers a total of 25 undergraduate slots across five critical programmes.
The available courses include Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Dental Surgery, Civil Engineering, Pharmacy, and Bachelor of Science with combinations in Biology and Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry, and Physics and Mathematics. Each course will admit five Ugandan students under the programme.
To be eligible, applicants must have sat for UACE in 2022 or 2023 and obtained at least two principal passes in the essential subjects relevant to their preferred course. Additionally, applicants must have scored at least six credits at UCE level, be in good health, and must be under 25 years of age at the time of application.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Ministry’s website or from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (Pakistan) site. All forms must be typed and submitted physically, together with verified copies of UCE and UACE results and the passport biodata page.
Submissions should be hand-delivered to the Department of Admissions, Scholarships and Student Affairs at Legacy Towers, Kyadondo Road, Kampala, by Wednesday, August 13, 2025, or not later than Thursday, August 14, 2025.
The Ministry has said that a shortlist of successful applicants will be published on the Ministry’s website and on notice boards at Legacy Towers on the same day of the deadline.
While tuition and related academic costs will be covered by the Pakistan Government, students will be expected to cover their own travel and personal upkeep while studying in Pakistan.
The scholarship is part of a long-standing partnership between Uganda and Pakistan aimed at enhancing academic exchange and professional training in priority sectors.
