Things have clearly never been the same again for long-serving NRM volunteer cadre Paul Musamali since the day he was elected to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to be one of the 9 Ugandan representatives. The proof for this is that Musamali, who for many years was a volunteer in the Government Chief Whip’s office along with others like Gori Christopher, recently casually dangled Shs600m to a group of real estate dealers whom he gave just 10 days within which to find for him land worth Shs600m. The guys he confided into are expected to know of the existence of the best real estate deals because they are always loitering in the offices of KCCA land board and those of Uganda Land Commission near Parliament. On learning of the juicy deal, the low-profiled guys contacted Alex Balayo, Swaib Balayo, Abdullah Malaka and a one Mohamood Masaba who are their seniors in the real estate brokerage game. Working together, the guys reached out to a contact at Robert Nyombi’s ULC who advised them on the existence of suitable land somewhere in the vicinity of the Namanve Industrial Park. “That boy [Musamali] has really accumulated money in such a short time. They took him to the land and the moment he saw it and liked it, he told them to wait for him.
He drove home and within 30 minutes returned with Shs600m. As they counted it, he announced an offer of Shs50m just for them because he was happy they had facilitated him to finally find the land with the exact specifications he always wanted,” said a senior NRM leader privy to the full circumstances under which Paul Musamali parted with the Shs600m to get the land. Its further revealed that prior to executing this purchase, Musamali had assigned another group of city real estate brokers to get him land and they conned him of Shs150m in purchase deal that turned out to be sham. As EALA MP, Musamali earns over Shs50m per month meaning he needs to save for just one year to raise Shs600m. Yet besides the Shs50m salary, he makes much more dimes in other allowances that increase the financial benefits available to all EALA members. By acquiring land in Namanve, Musamali has joined his fellow EALA MP Dennis Namara who began on his Namanve acquisition years ago when he still served as the national chairman NRM youth league. Whereas Musamali relied on his personal money, Namara got his with the help of the President whom he freely accessed as a CEC member for the NRM party between 2011 and 2016.
