Barely 6 months into the office of Deputy Chief Justice having replaced the disgraced Steven Kavuma, Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo has been exposed as a fairly rich man. From what we have gathered from sources close to him, the brilliant legal mind from Agago isn’t a pauper at all. Not even his grand children will ever become paupers. Reliable sources have told Mulengera news that Owiny Dollo owns three posh residences in Kampala alone. One residence is in Muyenga-Kisugu near International Hospital of Kampala (IHK). The other residence is in Bugolobi in the flat that Owiny Dollo has always occupied since beginning work after University.
The other home which is new and more recent is in Kiira after Namugongo. Justice Owiny Dollo, who is famous for writing rich and well reasoned judgments, is also African at heart proof being the way he believes in the admissibility of polygamy. We have pleasantry established that the man, who one time directly advised LRA leader Kony to surrender and face trial at ICC, officially has three wives including the Deputy Director LDC Florence Nakachwa. Each of these officially known wives occupies one of the residences and there are fears the wealthy well earning DCJ could further opt to expand his herd of women by taking on even more since polygamy isn’t one of those practices prohibited in the Ugandan law. Away from this sleazy stuff, Owiny Dollo has started his job at the Court of Appeal with enthusiasm and team work amongst the Justices is once again re-emerging and lawyers who frequently transact with this court are increasingly renewing their faith in the court. “He is of NRM political orientation yes but don’t expect him to tolerate any of the mediocrity that shrouded Kavuma’s era. Owiny Dollo is a sober-minded lawyer who knows how to separate law from his NRM background and this is why we have a lot of hope in him,” said a senior lawyer. Now besides the properties in Kampala, Owiny Dollo also owns huge tracts of land in Acholi where he hails from and is highly regarded by peers.
