A river cuts through rock not because of its power, but because of its persistence. The Buganda Parliamentary Caucus has taken a firm stand to ensure the region is no longer sidelined in government programs by forming a non-partisan committee dedicated to shaping policies that address Buganda’s pressing challenges.
Chairperson Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi did not mince words, stating that Buganda has been overlooked for far too long. “This is a call to action, and we will not be ignored,” he declared. “We urge the government to prioritize Buganda’s needs, especially in the 2025/2026 budget.”
The Caucus, during a closed-door meeting on Friday, discussed key concerns, including the recent destruction caused by a severe storm in Kalangala. Kivumbi called on the government to act swiftly in delivering relief to affected communities.
The legislators also applauded the Kabaka’s relentless efforts in promoting unity and development among his people. With the Kabaka Run fast approaching next month, they encouraged the public to participate in this historic event.
To strengthen their advocacy, the Caucus has established a special task force to push for policies that will empower Buganda’s MPs to lobby more effectively for their people’s interests. As Kivumbi put it, “We must have one voice to demand what rightfully belongs to Buganda and address the challenges we face.”
With this bold move, Buganda’s legislators have sent a clear message, that silence is no longer an option. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
