Makerere Guild President, James Churchhill Ssentamu who is also a nephew to NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, risks being denominated from the race for Youth MP for Buganda region.
This is after two registered voters and youth leaders from Rubaga Division discovered that their names had been used to support his nomination without ever being consulted. They are Damalie Nambalirwa and Ali Bisaso.
Each candidate is required to have a list of registered voters signing up to support his or her nomination. Such nominators must be consulted for their consent to be obtained. In his case, Churchhill Ssentamu had these two youth leaders from Rubaga on his list of nominators without their consent.
Through their lawyers Bristow Advocates, based on Mabirizi Complex, the duo has written to the EC Secretary accusing Churchhill Ssentamu of leveraging their forged signatures in order to facilitate his nomination. They say that such acts are criminal and violate their right to effectively exercise their franchise rights.
They want Ssentamu Churchhill to be thoroughly investigated and even be made to face severe sanctioning for his alleged criminal actions including misrepresentation and falsification.
They have demanded that the EC furnishes them with more documents including the entire register and nominators for the different candidates for the same seat in order to establish the extent of forgery, misrepresentation and falsification.
