During a Tuesday appearance on Sanyuka TV, Capt. Francis Babu (a former MP and ex-Minister) imploded and vowed to crush Anderson Burora, who defeated his wife Margaret Zziwa for the Makindye West MP flag bearer race for NRM, if he doesn’t stop his provocative conduct.
He was referred to an earlier interview in which Burora said he was more than ready to leverage his youthful energy even if it means physically beating up Babu, and defend his win. The former Minister accuses Burora of benefiting from a rigged election to become the NRM flag bearer for Nakawa.
Babu also says that Burora isn’t a genuine resident of Nakawa claiming that he was only planted and imposed on the constituency by Speaker Anita Among and others who are afraid that Zziwa can leverage her seniority and experience (as a former EALA Speaker) to vie for the Speakership of the 12th Parliament.
Babu claimed during the Sanyuka interview that he even has audio recordings of such actors in meetings plotting and explaining to each other why his Zziwa must be prevented from becoming MP Nakawa West. Asked whether it’s true that indeed Zziwa intended to vie for Speaker of the 12th Parliament, Babu said he has no doubt in his spouse’s potential and capacity to hold and serve in such a position.
He claimed that when he got into problems with Anita Among, who initially had dragged him to court for hate speech and criminal defamation, an optionless Burora entered negotiations during which it was decided to fund and generally facilitate him to stand for the Nakawa West NUP flag bearer position in order to stop and overcome Zziwa.
Babu, who said there was no need to appeal to the NRM tribunal because Burora’s powerful backers can still manipulate and influence such processes, also demanded that President Museveni quickly intervenes and stop such people who he said were newcomers in the NRM, wealthy and determined to use money to break up and demoralize more senior cadres who lack the financial muscle to match theirs.
The former Minister added that there is a conspiracy to frustrate Zziwa out of the Kampala politics the way she was hounded out of the EALA Speaker office. He made it clear that Zziwa wasn’t intending to stand as an independent because those out to get her will still be out to manipulate the Nakawa West vote in favor of opposition NUP strongman Joel B Ssenyonyi.
He also vowed not to waste time seeking to meet the President to update him on what happened because there is nothing he doesn’t know. He reiterated his earlier utterances that the type of elections and politics inside NRM isn’t what he and others risked to actively participate in the NRA bush war.
KADAGA SWINGS TOO: In a related development, Rebecca Kadaga has urged NRM delegates at the upcoming National Delegates Conference at Kololo to shun her CEC rival Anita Among on grounds that she is too new inside NRM and doesn’t yet qualify for such a big position as that of 2nd National Vice Chairperson.
She likened the Bukedea Woman MP, who originally belonged to FDC, to a person who converts to Islam in the morning and seek to become an Imam for the Mosque in the afternoon of that same day. She wondered how she was even nominated and cleared to compete for such a position, Kadaga demanded that delegates punish those who cleared her opponent to run for such a seat by decisively voting against Anita Among at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds later this month.
