BESIGYE DEFIANTLY ENTERS BUSHENYI

Police attempting to block Dr. Besigye's car in Bushenyi recently. Amuriat says such acts by police can't allow the FDC participate in Summit organized by OPM

Veteran politician Col Kizza Besigye (referred to as People’s President)  and the FDC party officials had a cat and mouse chase game with Police in Bushenyi as the latter tried to block the former from addressing several meetings and a public rally in Bushenyi Ishaka municipality. Besigye and his team were in Bushenyi for a meeting with the members of opposition who believe in spirit of the People’s Assembly of Liberation Struggle.

Besigye addressing Members of the People’s Assembly at Swing Inn Hotel in Ishaka town

Besigye and Amuriat whom the Police had denied access to Bushenyi town by blocking the Ishaka-Mbarara highway, defied the police orders and managed to access the meeting venue at Swing Inn Hotel in Ishaka where they successfully addressed the members of the People’s Assembly from districts of Bushenyi, Rubirizi, Shema and Ishaka Municipality. After addressing the assembly, the defiant Besigye was asked by police not to address any rally in the area but he defiantly led a procession of his mammoth supporters to Kizinda play ground in Ishaka town where he addressed residents who looked like were hungry and thirsty for his words. Ingrid Turinawe, the FDC Secretary for National Mobilization revealed that a lot of effort is being put on recruiting new overt and covert leaders that will lead the struggle in the year of 2019 that will see Museveni out of State House. She added that the struggle to take power from the NRM is challenging which needs powerful leaders. “The struggle we are in is not a simple one and remember there is no struggle will succeed without leadership even if those who need change are the majority,” said Turinawe. Besigye told his supporters in the meeting that the struggle is in their hands and should not look at the top leadership only during the struggle. Earlier on, Besigye had asked the public to take the responsibility and ensure that President Museveni (Whom he said his mandate has constitutionally expired) is out of power before 2021. According to Besigye, President Museveni who is already 75 years is not supposed to appear on the ballot in 20121. “Emphasis is put on Theory of Change syllabus drafted by the People’s Government to sensitize the public on mechanisms used by the Museveni Junta to keep the people of Uganda captive and provide strategies and tactics on how to confront, constrain, undermine and lead to failure and collapse of the junta” Besigye added. While featuring on Simba Radio on Tuesday evening, Besigye said that Ugandans are wasting time to wait for 2021 and show Museveni the exit from State House. From Bushenyi, Besigye and his team will proceed to Mbarara for a meeting with leaders from Mbarara, Ntungamo, Buhweju, Ibanda, Isingiro and Kiruhura districts.
