KYANKWANZI RETREAT CLOSES AS NRM MPS REJECT ANYWAR

By Our Reporters

In his Kyankwanzi submission at the just-concluded NRM retreat, the Secretary General of Tanzania’s ruling CCM party cautioned President Museveni and other ruling party leaders against ever allowing themselves to become over excited about defectors joining them from other parties. From the CCM boss’ innocent presentation, the NRM MPs and ministers derived something they ended up using to deflate Kitgum Municipality MP Beatrice Anywar who (pretending to be very enthusiastic about NRM things) made many of them uncomfortable throughout the retreat. Sources say that to the chagrin of many, Anywar used the retreat to overemphasize her political importance and closeness to the veteran leader from Rwakitura. This made many to become irritated as they quietly protested Anywar’s apparent determination to make them seem less important to the President. From the CCM boss’ submission, the irritated NRM MPs and ministers coiled the term “The CCM syndrome.” Consequently, each time a member got irritated with Anywar’s pompousness, they ran to retreat chief convener (the GCW) Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu to casually remind her about “The CCM syndrome.” Many of the retreat participants were grateful that the CCM big man gifted them with an artillery to conveniently silence Anywar whose conduct made many of them to feel overshadowed.

WORST MOMENT

Much-loathed Anywar’s worst moment came on the last day Tuesday when Museveni led MPs and ministers to Ngoma Presidential farm. While there, Museveni as usual took them around while showing them the nice animals (goats and cows) that are kept on the farm. On admiring the quality of animals, many wished it was their farm but restrained themselves from showing too much lust and excitement. It was only elderly Anywar who acted differently. At some point, an evidently very excited Anywar turned to look at the President while pointing at specific goats and cows that she begged him to donate to her. The NRM diehards who had for long become very irritated lost their patience and vigorously heckled the pompous politician from Kitgum. “Honorable Chief Whip you need to begin doing your work by giving thorough orientation to this political wannabe because her conduct seems to be exactly what the CCM delegation warned us about. It’s clear such newcomers need to first have induction in our home before being allowed on the dining,” one of the very irritated female NRM MP was quoted as pleading with Nankabirwa as the rest of the members protested Anywar’s lack of restraint. Reliable sources at the retreat have told Mulengera news that the President eventually saw the chaos and uneasiness Anywar’s crudeness was creating and signaled her to behave. “It’s alright since I’m the President I will give one animal to each one of you,” Museveni was quoted as saying in a bid to calm down some of the MPs who were increasingly becoming confrontational towards the ill-fated politician from Kitgum. At some point, some of the irritated NRM legislators wished Anywar could act patiently while seeking informal induction from the likes of Beti Kamya, Betty Amongin or even Nakiwala Kiyingi who joined the bus earlier. Anywar, who initially seemed indifferent and unbothered, made herself more misunderstood when she insisted on carrying some of the Mchomo in one of her bags (after bull roasting) as members boarded the coasters back to NALI. This prompted more NRM diehards to begin behaving scornfully and cynically towards the lady they initially considered to be very sophisticated. In the end, Anywar realized how unwanted she was in the NRM fraternity and resorted to becoming conspicuously silent in the coaster for much of the journey back to Kampala on Wednesday morning.
