The Uganda Police Force has released an official statement attempting to explain the genesis of the Arua Monday late evening chaos that saw Bobi Wine driver Yasiin Kawooya shot dead by government security forces. The Force’s spokesman Emilian Kayima, in a recorded audio, says attempts to harm the President by the Kassiano Wadri camp started as early as 4pm. Kayima says among the many vehicles the Wadri camp deployed to boost their last minute mobilization was a grader UAP 064R. That as early as 4pm this grader was used to intercept the President’s convoy as East Africa’s longest serving veteran leader drove to Booma Grounds that was venue for his candidate Nusura Tiperu’s final rally. Kayima says, gratefully all these efforts to humiliate & possibly harm the President were thwarted. As for Mr. Kawooya’s shooting, Kayima says there was provocation the moment the crowd resorted to throwing stones at the President’s convoy at a place called Prison Cell in Arua. Whereas Bobi Wine says in a social media post that the dead man was Yasiin Kawooya who was driving his Tundra UAT 416K, Kayima says they are yet to confirm the driver’s identity as they await confirmation of his death. In what could potentially see some leaders charged with treasonous conduct, Kayima says the grader is being kept as exhibit at Arua Police Station as investigations continue into the incidence.
