On Saturday, Aruu County MP Odonga Otto camped in Arua Municipality where he addressed a sizeable crowd at Arua Primary School playgrounds. This is located in Tanganyika cell Oli Division. Otto was with fellow Kampala city lawyer Caleb Alaka and independent candidate Robert Ejiku who few ever expected would be his (Otto’s) candidate. Ejiku, who barely has any known history of political participation, previously worked as General Manager for Igara Tea estates. A renowned wordsmith, Otto eloquently told the crowd his mission for coming to Arua was twofold. And this was to make sure veteran legislators Kassiano Wadri and Nusura Tiperu of the NRM don’t get elected. Otto, who spoke in English as Koboko District Planner Fred Bada (wants to oust Ayivu County MP Bernard Atiku in 2021) translated in the local dialect, told a cheering crowd that electing Nusura and Wadri would amount to endorsing political greed which the duo represents.

“How do you abandon Terego to come and become Arua Municipality MP? Which sort of greed is that which can’t allow you to wait for just two years remaining to the next election? The same applies to Nusura Tiperu. She has been transferring her greed from Yumbe, Koboko and now Arua. These two people must be defeated as a punishment. I have been to Parliament with them and they can’t even be elected on the account of exceptional performance because the road to Yumbe is murram just like the one to Terego,” Otto said. His sudden turn up at the Ejiku rally created excitement and incited defections from Nusura Tiperu’s camp to that of Ejiku who maintains he is an independent who isn’t affiliated to any partisan political grouping. “I want to know what exactly did they forget in Parliament that they want to go back and pick so that I volunteer to deliver it for them. If that’s the case even my brother Ejiku can bring it back for them to rest in peace outside Parliament.” Otto’s fiery speech didn’t spare his own FDC party which he said had become so dirty it’s like a house that stinks for the entire village. “I’m FDC myself and I can tell you it has become a dirty stinking house.

The leaders there are like a house wife who concentrates on cleaning the compound when inside the house is stinking. If they are honest let them clean the inside first. This is why you must reject both Wadri and Bruce Musema. They are here to extend the Besigye-Muntu proxy wars to Arua. They have failed to resolve their wars in Kampala and they are now bringing it here for you the people of Arua to resolve. Please reject both of them,” he said. He added: “I’m Samuel Odonga Otto the MP Aruu County. I have spoken my mind and I’m ready to be expelled if they want. Let them expel me and I’m ready to lose my seat and go for by-elections. I’m sure I will win but I must speak the truth about the stench in FDC.” He likened Wadri and Musema to war mongers and urged Arua voters to act cautiously lest their Municipality becomes the new arena for the Besigye-Muntu war.
