This Wednesday evening Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi appeared on CBS radio and said he is no longer interested in having any relationship with the FDC party. And he says he has already communicated to FDC SG Nandala Mafabi that he isn’t interested in being reappointed as Shadow Minister for Internal Affairs, a position that has enabled him to shine for the last 5 years in the House.

Kivumbi says he is tired of living under the anxiety of fearing to be fired by the unpredictable FDC leadership that controls the shadow cabinet being the leading opposition party. He says FDC has been hijacked by mediocrity in its NEC similar to what befell his DP party years ago. Muwanga says he wants to use the remaining 30 months to campaign for reelection as Butambala County MP in 2021. He says he is hopeful that the ongoing DP reunion activities & the Bobi Wine effect will create momentum to enable DP team up with other non-FDC political actors to come up with a powerful political grouping whose leadership will be able to have the leverage to be the one to control and distribute shadow cabinet positions after 2021 as opposed to being at the FDC mercy. He rejected claims that he was saying this after realizing he doesn’t stand any chance of being reappointed because of the hostilities he has lately been directing at some of the FDC party leaders. Mulengera news credibly understands that there is a significant group of MPs who have resolved to illegitimize the current FDC leadership by declining appointment in POA’s upcoming shadow cabinet formation.
