Kadongo Kamu Maestro Mathias Walukaga, who is also a Sir in the Buganda Kingdom, has finally come of age politically speaking. The man, who has always specialized in songs bashing the Museveni government, has finally gone bare knuckles by confiding in a few trusted friends that he is to contest for Masaka Mayorship come 2021. Walukaga could run either on the ticket of FDC, DP or even independent. He recently returned to school to ensure nothing stands in his way. “He is close friends and dependable ally for many opposition leaders meaning its unlikely any of them will have appetite to antagonize him politically even if he doesn’t stand on their respective party tickets,” said a knowledgeable analyst. Besides counting on his allies like Kizza Besigye, Erias Lukwago, Semujju Nganda, Bobi Wine, Betty Nambooze and others, Walukaga is also very popular at Mengo where Kabaka Mutebi is renowned for being the number one fan of his music. He is also spontaneously very popular with voters in Masaka because he has always used music to highlight the plight of the ordinary poor people. He rightly insists the ordinary people are dear to him because he himself is a self-made person who only God raised from the dust. He always says he is a household name not because he hails from a big family but largely because of God’s favor and hard work. The Kadongokamu maestro is coming at the most appropriate time following the decision by incumbent Godfrey Kayemba Afaayo not to seek reelection in 2021 when he will have served for 10 consecutive years. Kayemba is vying for Masaka Municipality MP Seat currently held by Mathias Mpuuga who also faces fellow DP man Mukasa Mbidde who has vowed to drawn Masaka voters in money between now and February 2021 when general elections will be held again. Walukaga recently confessed being politically inspired by fellow artists like Bobi Wine, Kato Lubwama and others who have previously successfully joined elective politics. His other mentors are Abby Mukiibi & Patricko Mujjuka who respectively are eyeing Njeru Municipality & Nakifuma MP Seats come 2021. He is also inspired by Ronald Mayinja’s determination to join elective politics come 2021. For comments, call, text or WhatsApp us on 0703164755.
