A few days ago, Chief Justice Alfonse Dollo presided over the launching ceremony for Deputy IGG Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria’s book. He is also the man who generously authored the three-page foreword to the book.
The 201 pages book is titled “The Touch of Humility: Leading with Compassion & Purpose” and in there, the author shares her personal story including parentage, going to school, marriage experience and public service roles at places like Uganda Human Rights Commission, the Works & Transport Ministry and currently the Inspectorate of Government.
The author shares personal experiences in the different places where she has worked and closely interacted with other equally eminent Ugandan citizens including in the Anglican Youth Fellowship Choir and the Ugandan Christian Lawyers Fraternity among others. And in each of these cases, Dr. OKiria tells her personal story in great detail and with extreme clarity.
The market and the reading Ugandan populace has received and accepted Dr. Okiria’s compelling personal story with enthusiasm, which explains why the book (going at between Shs50,000 and Shs100,000) has sold out like hotcake. As of this Friday, staff at Aristoc were being overwhelmed by people flocking their outlets for a copy.
An insider at Aristoc says that the book unexpectedly quickly sold out partly because several government MDAs, individual Ugandans, western embassies and research organizations ordered for and purchased in bulk. This is how hundreds of copies have ended up being ordered for, bought and taken by several government MDAs like SHACU, ISO, Parliament, public academic institutions, the Judiciary, Gen Salim Saleh’s OWC fraternity and the Uganda Police Force etc.
The publisher Frank Kabushenga is already back to print more copies in a bid to try to meet the growing demand which he never anticipated. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
