During the Wednesday Kiriza oba Gana program, Democratic Alliance big man Moses Kasibante (also former Rubaga North MP) rejoined the CBS weekly panel.
For years, Kasibante (these days a successful coffee farmer near Nabbingo in Wakiso district) had been a member of this panel moderated by Meddie Nsereko but ceased to be when he lost his MP seat and relocated to Nabbingo near his coffee farm.
It seems, Kasibante (who is eyeing Rubaga North MP seat) is now back on the Wednesday panel where he is joining Muwanga Kivumbi, RDC Yasin Ndidde and Katonga’s Harold Kaija. Last Wednesday, Kasibante was present when NUP Deputy President Muwanga Kivumbi praised his party’s transparency regarding the choosing of Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi as the flag bearer for Kawempe North by-elections.
Muwanga Kivumbi also predicted 70% victory for Nalukoola while prophesying doom for NRM’s Faridah Nambi. In 2021, Nambi, who is a daughter to Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, stood for Kampala Woman MP seat and scored slightly more than 90,000 votes.
Kasibante Moses, who has been very outspoken against dictatorship in NUP where he says only Bobi Wine and his wife make binding decisions, pushed back against Kivumbi’s claims. On the contrary, Kasibante asserted that the Kawempe candidate selection process exposed the extent to which authoritarianism has taken root in NUP. Kasibante said even Simon Byabakama who heads Gen Museveni’s EC would be ashamed of such a rigged electoral process or exercise.
“I want to dare Honorable Muwanga by saying the following on this issue: If the EC Chairman Simon Byabakama had done what NUP did for Kawempe North namely asked candidates to get nominated and go home to wait to be called back to receive the results, without being able to know who the voters are and campaign among them, the entire leadership of Honorable Muwanga’s party would be out making noise how that can’t be called an election. They would call it sham and indeed that’s what it is.” (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
