Leading insurance services provider UAP Old Mutual has excelled once again and this time round it has to do with promoting and practicing best HR practices. The organization (UAP Old Mutual Group) over the weekend scooped top honors in the annual Top Employer Awards gala. The Awards recognize best in class in people management practices across UAP Old Mutual‘s subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan. In Uganda, the subsidiaries include the general and health insurance business, life assurance, financial services and the properties division.
A record number of 200 organisations, across 33 African countries, participated this year. “We are delighted to be the number one employer in East Africa. This goes to prove that our most valuable resource-our people have the right tools and a conducive work environment that enhances productivity,” said the Group Head of Human Resources Winnie Pertet. “To enable our employees to perform at their best, we proactively launched our signature Staff Wellness programme. This is built on the foundations of Financial, Physical, Emotional and Psychological Wellbeing. Purposeful Living is another core tenet of the programme.” The UAP Old Mutual Insurance Uganda management team led by the Managing Director David Kuria upon receiving the awards that were presented to the team by the UAP Old Mutual Insurance Uganda Head of Human Resources, Deborah Maitum, expressed extreme gratitude and felted honored for their relentless efforts towards best in class people management practices. Group CEO Peter Mwangi said “We are both delighted and humbled by this award and achievement. It comes at a time when Old Mutual Group is embarking on an exciting journey to prepare for our independent future.” He said the awards were as a result of combined efforts by the business leaders, dedicated HR team and engaged employees.
