BETI KAMYA TELLS OFF MUNTU: YOU’RE POLITICALLY CURSED & EVEN LAUNCH WON’T MAKE YOUR STUNTED ANT BIGGER

By Simon Turibamwe

Beti Kamya has this Saturday morning revealed why President Museveni and the entire NRM establishment can’t lose sleep over Gen Mugisha Muntu’s political party called Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).

She was speaking on Top Radio’s popular Negwozadde program ably hosted by the Steven Dunstan Busuulwa. Asked what the granting of the registration certificate to Gen Muntu’s ANT party by EC means for the NRM, Kamya (who knows Muntu pretty well having closely worked with him in FDC) said the advent of ANT doesn’t in anyway impact on the political calculus of this country.

And the eloquent gracefully aging woman from Kooki gave her reasons. She was speaking to a Luganda audience and this is what she said (verbatim): “Gen Muntu oyo nze ndaba nga ebibye byagana. Ebintu abyesibako bwesibi naye andabikira nti muby’obufuzi ye yakona.

Musajja Mulokole mulungi era muntu mulamu naye eby’obufuzi tabirinamu Mukisa. Eby’obufuzi bye byagana byakikonywa. Gwe olaba nange omukazi obukazi omu bwati nakola amawulire okumala emyaka ebiri nga siva ku front page nganvudde mu FDC. Naye ye General omulamba nagamba nvudde mu FDC nabakulu bano bonna naye ngatosobola kola mawulire kusuka lunaku lumu. Atekwa okuba nga aliko ekikyamu. Aliko ekirondola obulamu bwe mubyobufuzi talina yo Mukisa. Ekyo asanye akimanye aleme kwemalira biseera. Nalaba yakolako omutwe gwamawulire olunaku lumu lwoka. Kati ebyo ebya launch byebagamba byakugumaza bantu baffe awatali nsonga. Ffe twalina Reform Agenda eyali eyamaanyi enyo ngatuli ne Dokitta Besigye naye wawulirako nti twalina launch yonna? Naye ekintu kyali kitambula eranga tekiva ku front page. Launch kintu ekiberawo era tekirina kyamaanyi kyekyongera ku kibiina kubanga bwobwa nga olina kisaawo kikalu munda tekijja kukyuka. Launch siyefula ekibiina okubera ekyamaanyi. Kirina okuberamu omusinzi okusinga okubuzabuza abantu mbu mutulinde tumale launch mulyoke mulabe ekyamaanyi. Oyo Mwami Muntu awumule kubanga nze ekitono kyemumanyiko kiri nti eby’obufuzi bye byagana. Byakona agende anonye ebirala ebyokukola. Obera otya General omulamba notasoboola kola mawulire wadde okumala week emu yokka bweti nganze omukazi obukazi nebutabani bwange bunno bu Hassan Kasibante twakola amawulire okumala emyaka ebiri miramba ngatetuva ku front page? Olwaleero waliwo People Power gyetulowoza nti effuse yamaanyi nyo. Naye waliwo launch? Bagilonkyinga ddi mpozzi? Byali luddawa nze sasobola kubimanyako. Aleme kugumaza bantu nti launch egenda kifula ekibiina ekyamaanyi.”

ENGLISH VERSION

Loosely translated, Kamya’s statement goes as follows: “Gen Muntu had better realize he isn’t meant to succeed in politics. He is just imposing himself on things that can never work in his life. In politics he is stunted [yakona] much as he is a good Born Again man. Even myself was a mere woman single handedly I dominated news for two years when I left FDC but him, a whole General, made news for only one day when he announced his party and departure from FDC. He is politically unlucky. He says he left with many senior officials but that entire group can’t influence the news agenda even for a week? In my case I was alone with just my small boys like Hassan Kasibante here [he is now her PA in KCCA] but we dominated news for long. He must be under some curse when it comes to politics. It must be something tormenting and following his life [aliko ekimulondola]. Let nobody deceive you that it’s the launch that will give that party momentum to dominate the news agenda. It won’t change anything. If your thing is hollow and devoid of anything, it will remain so even if you have a launching ceremony. We had Reform Agenda, very vibrant but we never had any launching ceremony anywhere yet we did a lot and were ever in news with Dr. Besigye and others. We now have People Power as a very strong political movement but when was their launch? Has it become this strong because there was a launch? Where was it by the way? I haven’t heard of any launch for people power. So let Gen Muntu and group not create false hope that it’s the launch that is going to transform their party into something which it isn’t. We had Federal Alliance and never had any launching ceremony but it was big ever in the news.” (For comments, email us at mulengera2040@gmail.com).
