The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced a fresh call for bids from eligible suppliers to support the repair and maintenance of computer laboratories in 192 secondary schools across Uganda.
This development comes as part of UCC’s ongoing commitment to enhancing digital learning and improving ICT infrastructure in the country’s education system.
According to the public invitation, UCC has secured funding specifically for this project, and is now seeking qualified companies to supply and deliver the necessary equipment that will breathe new life into existing school ICT labs.
The Commission noted that the bidding process will be conducted through the Open Domestic Bidding method, in line with the Government of Uganda’s Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act of 2003, making it open to all interested bidders.
In the official communication, the Commission emphasized that the procurement exercise is intended to equip schools with tools that can boost computer literacy among students and allow for proper maintenance of already existing ICT infrastructure. Interested companies are being encouraged to inspect and pick up bidding documents from the UCC Procurement and Disposal Unit located at UCC House in Bugolobi, Kampala. These documents are available on working days from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
To participate, each bidder is required to submit a written application and pay a non-refundable fee of One Hundred Thousand Uganda Shillings (UGX 100,000), a fee which is to be deposited in the Commission’s account at Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd, Corporate Branch, Crested Towers, under the account name Uganda Communications Commission.
Bidders are expected to submit their sealed proposals by 28th July 2025, after which the bids will be opened publicly at 10:15 am at UCC House. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
This bid invitation comes at a time when UCC is pushing hard to close the digital divide between urban and rural schools, with a firm belief that equitable access to digital tools is a fundamental step towards national development.
The Commission has assured transparency in the evaluation process and will display the best evaluated bidder shortly after the closing date. Contract signing will follow after clearance from the Solicitor General.
This initiative is part of UCC’s broader mandate to promote ICT inclusion and digital equity in Uganda’s education sector.
