The national roads agency is currently undertaking maintenance works along the Jinja Highway. As part of these works, UNRA will be working on a stretch around Seeta High School (Main Campus) from Saturday, December 18, 2021, to Thursday, December 23, 2021.
Engineers will be undertaking works aimed at improving drainage at this stretch. The works will include installation of culverts. As a way of expediting the works and ensuring that normal traffic flow is restored as soon as is practicable, UNRA has said that engineers working on the section will undertake works during both day and night.
Temporary diversion routes have now been identified and communicated to motorists using the Kampala-Jinja Road. Motorists traveling to and from Kampala to Mukono have been advised to use the Bweyogerere (Jokas)-Namanve-UCU-Mukono Road route which is accessible at Bweyogerere (Jokas), Namanve Industrial Park at Namanve, Nantabulirirwa, Seeta Junction to Namilyango Road.
Motorists from Mukono can also go through Ntaawo-Bajjo to join the Seeta-Namugongo Road. Motorists driving from Namugongo, Sonde and Naalya heading to Mukono have also been advised to use Bajjo Road (off the Seeta-Namugongo Road) and access the main road again at Kigunga (Biyinzika) or at the Ntaawo Stage.
“Only heavy goods vehicles such as trailers and buses, emergency service vehicles from Kampala to Mukono and back, shall be allowed to use the main road through Seeta with minimal delays expected at the works section,” added UNRA’s management in a notice. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused.” (For comments on this story, call, text or whatsapp us on 0705579994 [whatsapp line], 0779411734, 0200900416 or email us firstname.lastname@example.org).
