URA has joined the list of entities contributing to the success of Kyabazinga’s wedding due this Saturday. The tax body led by Commissioner General John Musinguzi handed over a cheque for Ugx 26 million to the Chairman of the Royal wedding committee, Eng. Patrick Batumbya today at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.
Batumbya thanked URA for being a good partner who not only takes but also gives back. “The Busoga community is appreciative that an organization that is often perceived as being on the taking side has also given back to their community. This gesture shows how the government acknowledges the significance of culture in promoting unity in the country,” he said.
Batumbya also invited the staff and management of URA to celebrate an important milestone in the development of the Busoga region. Musinguzi on the other hand stated that the contribution was an opportunity for URA to express solidarity with the kingdom, its colleagues, and supporters as they celebrate the joyous occasion of the royal wedding.
“Additionally, URA’s contribution came not only from the corporate body but also from staff who are resourceful and focused, some of whom hail from Busoga.,” he added.
Musinguzi appreciated the community for allowing the tax body to give back and emphasized that URA is known for taking away, but only for a good cause. He noted that URA is embarking on strategic and deliberate engagements with all leaders including traditional institutions to mobilize Ugandans to pay their fair share of taxes for national development.
