The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has risen to new heights of distinction as it received the esteemed ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems Certification.
The Bureau bagged the certification following a rigorous and comprehensive Quality Management Systems Audit conducted by Axe Register.
The audit encompassed a wide array of UNBS functions, spanning from the Development of National and Regional Standards for products and services under the aegis of the Standards Department, to areas like Human Resources, Customer Complaint Handling, Corporate Planning, and Procurement Disposal Unit.
According to ISO, for an entity to get this certification, it needs to among others demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Officials said with the certification, UNBS is poised to establish an unassailable aura of credibility and trust among its diverse stakeholders. The ISO 9001 certification empowers UNBS to implement processes characterized by consistent, replicable results, thereby setting the stage for heightened customer satisfaction.
The meticulously structured quality management systems will foster the seamless integration of internal policies and procedures, culminating in a harmonized and optimized operational landscape. The certification cycle is 3 years; from 27th July 2023 to 27th July 2026. UNBS will be undergoing annual audits to maintain this certification.
