Word coming through indicates that the long awaited changes under the new Managing Director, Mr. Reuben. B. Tumwebaze, has started taking shape.  As the struggling company makes the much needed change, eyes have been refocused on the mind boggling pay cheque that the new Managing Director and his Deputy General Manager at Kamonkoli will be earning.

As other companies are contemplating how they will be recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic financial crisis and shocks, Uganda Clays Limited has offered its Managing Director a monthly salary in the range of Shs40m while the General Manager Shs30m per month, with the later receiving a pay way above that of their former MD.

Looming Transfer and Redeployment

Just like it was anticipated on arrival of their new Managing Director, redeployments have already started taking course within the organization as the Quality Manager has been the first victim to be redeployed to Marketing as a Territorial Manager taking up Gulu area.

Other imminent transfers are that of the Kamonkoli Factory Accountant (Ms. Mary Nassiwa) moving to Kajjansi factory for a lesser position and a movement of the Cost Accountant (Mr. Bonny Isabirye) from Kajjansi to Kamonkoli factory for a lesser position with effect from May 1, 2021. A reliable source further indicates that most of the old guards will be affected by this change; with a likely possibility to be demoted, sighting the suspicious manner in which some have executed their work in the past and a general issue of competence.

These upcoming changes that have already created uncertainty and cold feet among the staff are expected to also affect the sections of procurement, sales, electrical, health and safety that will be handled in a phased manner. The procurement and sales departments are already reportedly giving the new MD sleepless nights given the way in which they were previously managed.
