Sekaana has met expectations of those who vigorously supported his initial appointment and sources say his name has been cleared for elevation to Court of Appeal. There are things which only Sekaana has been able to enjoy because he is in good books of people who matter in this country. For instance, he is one of the few judges who have served in one court without being transferred for more than 5 years.
He one time was transferred by the PJ to go and become the Resident Judge of Mbarara but the same was revoked after an objection was successfully lodged and Sekaana was able to stay put. He first joined the Division as a mere Judge and was later on made Deputy Division Head before getting fast-tracking to the substantive head of the Division, a position he has continued to very powerfully hold on to up to this day.

But some observers say that remaining as head Civil Division is more prestigious not for just Sekaana but any other Judicial officer because it’s simply the busiest of all High Court Divisions. It handles all matters including the politically sensitive ones relating to things like enforcement and protection of human rights under Article 50 of the Constitution.
