Sarrai Group has contributed an assortment of items worth Shs300m to the Covid-19 National Task Force to help vulnerable Ugandans during the two-week lockdown.

A conglomerate of numerous subsidiaries – including Nile Plywoods, Engaano millers, Tasco Industries, Hoima Sugar and Kinyara Sugar – operating in several districts across the country, Sarrai Group delivered the items to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Kampala on April 07.

They included 10,000 litres of sanitizers, 20,000 kilograms of sugar, 10,000 kilograms of laundry bar soap and 10,000 kilograms of baking flour.

“We do understand that our nation is going through unprecedented times which require collective effort and responsibility which has to be undertaken with a lot of dynamism and selflessness with a collective goal of fighting the pandemic,” said Sekhar Veedhi, a representative of Sarrai Group, whose  values are premised on principles of strong community ties and livelihood enhancement.

“Sarrai Group remains committed to offering its customers and the general public with quality affordable products in the spirit of enabling equitable access to basic products through these unfavourable times.”

For his part, Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda expressed gratitude upon receipt of the items which were part of a big consignment received from other stakeholders. He assured Sarrai and other contributors that the donations will be put to their intended use through a specialized committee selected by President Yoweri Museveni.
