On Monday as MPs voted to oust Minister Parsis Namuganza (whose only crime is to dislike and criticize Speaker Anita Among while expressing herself as provided for under Article 29 of the Constitution), Budadiri West MP Nandala Mafabi was one of the many front and back bench Members of Parliament who were absent and never cast their vote.

It has been established that the FDC Secretary General stayed away because he felt these were NRM fights which he didn’t want to involve himself into.

Instead, Nandala Mafabi kept busy in his native Sironko district where he presided over the installation of the new Head Teacher for Masaba Secondary School which is one of the most prestigious public school in the district.

Parents had for long cried out blaming the declining school standards on Mr. Wambedde, the outgoing HM under whom the school had gone to the dogs. The new head teacher, who was unveiled on Monday, is by the names of Kenneth Katonda whose deployment was lobbied by key stakeholders like Nandala Mafabi himself using contacts in Kampala.

Nandala couldn’t avoid being in the area on such a big day (even when the school is in Budadiri East) because he is already facing a huge political challenge for his 2026 reelection resulting from the NRM‘s decision to front Diaspora-based lawyer Mashate Magomu.

Local pundits say that Nandala will eventually win but he will have to sweat like never before because none of his previous challengers matches the Mashate profile and exposure. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [whatsapp line], 0779411734 & 0200900416 or email us at
