Denis Sekabira, the newly elected NUP MP for Katikamu North in Luwero district, has acquired for himself a Hammer similar to what celebrities like Bebe Cool have possessed before. This new acquisition has made Sekabira (who in May will be taking over from long-serving area MP Eng Abraham Byandala) a center of attraction for many of his poverty-stricken electors.

Sekabira, who is one of the four MPs NUP produced after capturing the entire Luwero district from NRM, defeated many others to grab the Katikamu North Parliamentary gig including NRM CEC member Nasur Gadafy who was the flag bearer for the ruling party. There was also outgoing Luwero LC5 Chairman Ronald Ndawula in the race.

Those who know him well say that the purchase of the Hammer by the curiously wealthy Sekabira isn’t an isolated incident because the same youthful legislator recently parted with more than hs1.7bn to buy a secondary school whose proprietors had mortgaged it to Equity Bank.  The Kenyan bank sold the giant academic institution to the NUP legislator after advertising the same in the newspapers and failing to attract any serious buyers.

The same Sekabira has since used the same school (and possibly his MP salary) to take out a bank loan of Shs2.4bn which was partly used to finance his own campaigning effort and that of other NUP flag bearers in Greater Luwero for the final days leading up to the polling day of Thursday 14th January 2020.
