PAUL MWIRU DECLINES PARLIAMENT JOB
By Mulengera Reporters
Former Jinja Municipality MP Paul Mwiru has consistently said no to lucrative job offers by the leadership at Parliament. A diehard supporter of Gen Mugisha Muntu, Mwiru has repeatedly been lured to take up the very influential administrative job but he has been firm in saying no. He has made it clear that he would rather languish in poverty than working under people who actually don’t wish him anything good but subjugation and humiliation.

Sources close to him say that Mwiru has remained unforgiving towards a big person at Parliament who he believes maliciously funded one of his opponents as he sought reelection as Jinja Municipality MP during the 2021 election campaigns. That the powerful leader at Parliament generously financed an opposition-leaning candidate, a thing that split the opposition vote and diminished Mwiru‘s reelection chances.
In the end, Nathan Igeme Nabeta of the NRM won and carried the day. Like he had done before, a relentless Mwiru returned to Court to challenge Igeme‘s victory. It’s his conviction that even within the Court system, the same big person at Parliament followed him and lobbied to ensure he doesn’t succeed. In the end, Mwiru fought up to Court of Appeal but walked away empty handed as the whole thing ended in Igeme‘s favor.
Mwiru now says he can’t go to work at an institution where such a very hateful person works also. And it remains his conviction that it’s better to languish in poverty for the next 5 years as he looks forward to 2026 than exhibiting too much frustration for a job. Mwiru, who is now a big name in the ANT Party, has since resorted to farming and doing some manufacturing business in the Namanve Industrial Park where the Museveni government recently offered him free land.

Each time, the offer of the Parliamentary job is renewed, the naturally very proud Paul Mwiru has preferred to recommend someone else as opposed to taking up the thing himself.
