NSSF ALLOWS EMPLOYERS TO DELAY WORKERS CONTRIBUTIONS UNTIL JULY 2020
By Mulengera Reporter
National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will not fine employers who delay their workers’ monthly contributions in the next three months provided the companies and organisations communicate their inability to fulfill this responsibility to the pension fund.
According to NSSF Managing Director Richard Byarugaba, this waiver is “in support of the Government of Uganda’s interventions to combat the effect of Covid19” disease for which the country has so far confirmed 44 cases.
“With effect from today 31st March 2020, the Fund will allow Ugandan businesses facing economic distress to reschedule their NSSF contributions for the next three (3) months without accumulating penalty. Affected businesses are advised to send an email to email@example.com to work out the detailed modalities,” said Byarugaba in a statement.
“Kindly note that businesses that do not apply for this amnesty will be expected to continue honoring their statutory obligation to remit NSSF contributions by the 15th day of every month.”
Byarugaba further appealed to the public to “vigorously observe all the directives that have been issued to enable our country to overcome this challenge at the earliest.”
