This news website has impeccably established that the President has rescinded the appointment of Kakooza Alex as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. This position became vacant following the incarceration and interdiction or suspension of Geraldine Ssali, which became inevitable the moment she was slapped with criminal charges.
The President is doing this reversal of Kakooza’s deployment at Trade after realizing that the seasoned bureaucrat’s plate as PPS to the vice president is already too full and cannot add him other responsibilities-and do the two jobs efficiently.
Kakooza will now be remaining as Principal Private Secretary to the Vice President and the President is already working with Lucy Nakyobe, the Head of Public Service to find someone else who is suitable to take over the role of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Trade.
The position was previously occupied by Geraldine Ssali who was arrested recently month over the Cooperatives’ compensation money issues. She has since been indicted and she is facing charges with Members of Parliament. The President’s change of heart now means that Nakyobe will have to work with the Head of Public Service Commission to find someone else to become Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.
