MBARARA-RWAMPARA ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMS THREE LIVES

At least three people have been confirmed dead in a Thursday morning accident that happened at Rwemiyenje Rugando Trading Center along the Mbarara-Rwampara Road.

The trio died on spot after being hit in the 11am accident that involved a bus and two other vehicles: a Carina vehicle registration number UAV 977P, and a motorcycle registration number UEP 535K. The bus that was involved in the road crash belongs to Bismarkan Coaches.

Initial reports said the occupants in the Carina car was a one George Kangwamu and his wife who were returning from Kyegegwa District.

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding Bismarkan bus, registration number UAQ 079W, hit a Carina car as its driver tried to turn on his right. Also hit in the process was a motorcycle.

The collision made the Bismarkan bus veer off the road. A number of passengers on the bus were injured as the vehicle swerved off the road.

Both Rwampara District Police Commander Stephen Kamar and Rwizi Region Police Spokesperon Samson Kasasira have confirmed the death of three people. Police were expected to issue a report detailing the cause of the morning accident.
