In a heartfelt letter to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, citizens of Kisoro District have humbly asked for the reappointment of General Kale Kayihura as a government minister, following the recent passing of Hon. Minister Sarah Mateke. The letter, dated October 23, 2024, reflects the district’s deep sadness over the loss and a sincere plea for a replacement who has long been admired in the community.
The people of Kisoro are known for their unwavering support of President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM). They argue that General Kayihura, a figure with significant influence and respect in the area, would be an ideal successor for the late Minister Sarah Mateke. They recalled his leadership and dedication, particularly his role in implementing community policing initiatives, which strengthened the relationship between the public and law enforcement.
While acknowledging that General Kayihura may have faced controversies during his previous time in government, the citizens of Kisoro expressed their regret and offered apologies for any mistakes that may have occurred under his leadership. They emphasized that his contributions to the country, including his service to Kisoro, outweigh the perceived wrongs, and they firmly believe he would serve the district and Uganda well once again.
The letter concluded with a humble request to the President: “We kindly ask that you consider our plea and appoint General Kayihura as our representative. His return would not only honor the memory of Minister Sarah Mateke but would also bring renewed hope and leadership to our community.”
With hope in their hearts and trust in the President’s judgment, the people of Kisoro eagerly await a favorable response, confident that their call for General Kayihura’s reappointment is one of both respect and genuine need.
