Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, says she has teamed up with an American inventor and a Ugandan biochemist to bring a handwash spray that “instantly kills the Coronavirus.”

Although Uganda has not yet registered a case of the deadly Covid-19 Coronavirus, the east African landlocked nation is on high alert after four of her neighbors reported cases in the past seven days.

Rwanda has so far confirmed five cases, Kenya three, DR Congo two and Tanzania one. A suspected case in Uganda tested negative according to test results the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) released Monday, said the country’s health ministry. Ugandans, including MPs, are worried the disease could be spread through the porous borders shared with the four countries that have already reported infections.

“Some MPs have expressed concern over the globally spreading Corona virus – in light of stern measures taken by neighboring Kenya and Rwanda. I’ve advised that we await a Government Statement; to be read tomorrow afternoon,” said Kadaga, before she announced a remedy for the disease that has killed over 6,500 lives worldwide.

Kadaga said she had met Prof Sarfaraz K Niaz from the US and Mathias Magoola of DEI Group in Luzira at the weekend and the trio discussed ways of bringing the sanitizer to the Ugandan market next week.

“I’ve told Parliament that a spray/hand-wash, which instantly kills the Corona virus, has been discovered. The American inventor, Prof. Sarfaraz K. Niaz, who was here at the weekend, has given the patent free of charge to Uganda,” wrote Kadaga.

“He has teamed up with a Ugandan biochemist, Mathias Magoola of DEI Group in Luzira, a city suburb. The product goes on sale next week.”

International epidemic experts say it will take researchers and manufacturers over 18 months to come up with either a cure or a vaccine against Covid-19.
