Former LoP and also belligerent NUP top official Mathias Mpuuga was asked to respond to and defend himself against veiled attacks Bobi Wine directed at him, Medard Segona, Abed Bwanika and Twaha Kagabo (all of them NUP MPs) while performing at a music concert in London over the weekend-and he was extremely contemptuous in his response.
Sophisticated as always, Mpuuga responded by saying the unprovoked verbal attack on him by Mr. Wine was simply below the belt and too trivial for a serious person like himself to respond to. “You interview the Party President [Bobi] and not me. I consider politics so serious and I don’t have time for such,” Mpuuga told Daily Monitor newspaper.
In veiled attacks during the London concert, Mr. Wine disparaged several of his own colleagues as villains and traitors who hide behind titles like Owekitiibwa and wearing of nice suits besides speaking great English to betray him and the Ugandan populace. Renowned for taking no prisoners, Dr. Abed Bwanika has since responded demanding to know who has ever chased away or removed a Dictator through just dancing and singing at a concert in London.
Bwanika says Kyagulanyi is too unserious a leader to be entrusted with the leadership of the struggle for regime change in Uganda. He has vowed not to be intimidated by anyone through NUP card-related blackmail as the country counts down to 2026.
Bwanika has vowed to obliterate NUP leaders with exaggerated sense of self-importance by retaining his Kimanya-Kabonera MP Seat even without the NUP endorsement. He says voters in Kimanya-Kabonera voted for him because of his great credentials as a leader and not because Bobi Wine told them to.
On his part, Mpuuga (who isn’t prepared to be remorseful over the Shs500m Service Award Parliament gave him) says they are carrying out consultations and will notify the country of their next step once that is completed. He says he did such a great job as LoP and the Service Award he was given was deserved and well merited.
