Joseph Kabuleta is a man with a scathing tongue especially when he is discussing politics. He has always criticized President Yoweri Museveni over what he calls ‘bad leadership.’ But it looks like Museveni is not the only person whose style of doing things he doesn’t fancy.
After declaring his intentions to run for Presidency in the forthcoming elections, Kabuleta has punched holes in the strategies of his fellow contenders in the opposition and shredded the idea of an opposition alliance.
A pastor and former journalist, Kabuleta says many of the politicians in the race for presidency lack a solid strategy that will benefit the country once they assume leadership.
“All they talk about is unseating Museveni from power. Museveni is their focus. I am not going to fall in that boat. I am here to stand for something,” he told the press in Kampala on Wednesday.
Kabuleta also cited poor opposition tactics to justify his disdain for the idea of a joint opposition candidate against the incumbent. There have been talks within the opposition towards that end.
“I unite on a principle not just removing Museveni,” he said, adding that he is not ready to combine forces with anybody unless they have a platform of economic liberation that matches his.
“But even if they have it, they will have to come and unite under me not with me.”
Kabuleta also argued that Museveni feels strong when the opposition unites against him. He further opined that the President should instead unite with everyone else against him (Kabuleta).
Typical of many journalists, Kabuleta is a man of many words. He is likely to say more and ruffle feathers in the process. According to him, Museveni’s days in State House are numbered, and “you can take that to the bank.”
