HOPE AS 300,000 SINOVAC VACCINE DOSES ARE SET TO ARRIVE IN UGANDA THIS SATURDAY
Uganda’s Ministry of Health (MoH) will this Saturday receive 300,000 doses of the Sinovac Vaccine to help boost the country’s Covid19 vaccine uptake and coverage. The vaccine doses have been donated by the Government of China as part of the country’s aid to developing countries in the fight against Covid19.
According to MoH, the Sinovac doses are ready for shipment from China. “The vaccines will be in country on Saturday 31 July 2021 to support the ongoing Covid19 vaccination exercise in the country,” the Dr Jane Ruth Aceng-led Ministry said in a statement.
“Inspection and analysis by the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control have been conducted and certificates of analysis have been issued for this shipment.” News of the Chinese Sinovac doses come just hours after Minister Aceng unveilled Uganda’s plan to vaccinate more people against the deadly viral respiratory disease.
According to the minister, Uganda has already placed orders for 11 million Covid19 vaccine doses and will continue to buy more. In recent days, Uganda has also received billions of Shillings in donations to support vaccination and other response mechanisms. For example, Norway and Denmark have offered monetary donations while France has delivered face masks, testing kits and respirators to the National Medical Stores on Tuesday.(For comments on this story, call, text or whatsapp us on 0705579994, 0779411734, 0200900416 or email us at email@example.com).
