GOOD NEWS FOR MP BBUMBA AS NADULI’S SON FAILS TO GET NOMINATED FOR NAKASEKE SEAT
By Mulengera Reporter
Academic qualifications-related concerns and mismatch in the names this Thursday caused the EC Nakaseke leadership to refuse to nominate Al-Hajji Abdul Nadduli’s son Sulaiman Jakana Nadduli to run as an NRM-leaning independent candidate for Nakaseke Central MP Seat against Syda Bbumba, a veteran politician who has been MP for decades and got the ruling party flag under very controversial circumstances.
Accompanied by his father, the ill-fated Jakana turned up at the Nakaseke district Electoral Commission offices towards midday only to be summoned by Nakaseke EC Registrar Mike Jjuuko who, upon scrutinizing his documents, informed him he was unfit for nomination because of inconsistences in his names and academic documents. Jjuuko later explained that Jakana presented academic papers showing a different set of names from those in his National identity card.
Jakana told journalists shortly after that he was determined to address the concerns raised by the EC and will ensure he isn’t locked out. Some of the other candidates who were successfully nominated on 1st day included DP’s Paulson Lutamaguzi Semakula (for Nakaseke South), NUP’s Violet Nakalema (for the Nakaseke Woman MP seat), DP’s Godfrey Kiyingi (Nakaseke Central), NRM’s Enock Nyongore (Nakaseke North), Syda Bbumba and independent candidate Christopher Senfuma (Nakaseke Central).
